Represented the developer in obtaining a $280 million construction loan from Banco Santander for the EPIC Hotel and Residences - a mixed-use 414-room Kimpton hotel with 342 condominium residences and mega yacht marina. Despite the recession, this loan was paid off in full and on time, in part due to the pre-sale of the hotel portion of the project which the firm also handled.
Represented the client in connection with regulatory state, federal, and local wetland permitting for redevelopment of property in Sunrise, Florida, as part of the multi-phased $250 million development known as Metropica, a first-class, transit-oriented, mixed-use project consisting of class A office buildings with structured parking, full service restaurants, upscale retail, and luxury high-rise condominiums. Bilzin Sumberg's work involved negotiating the relocation of existing on-site wetland mitigation areas to allow for an increased development footprint.
