Q & A
Why should a client hire you?
I have very diverse experience in complicated projects, and I have been through several downturns with my clients. I am experienced in handling new projects when construction is booming, and restructuring when the market is down.
How does your experience with condominium legislation help your clients?
It helps in two ways. For a client developing a new condominium project, I may spot issues that could be missed by someone without my background. In redeveloping existing condominium projects, my background working on legislative fixes to the 2007 termination statute have enabled me to avoid some of the pitfalls that may arise in attempting a termination strategy.
Do you have any unique areas where you mentor young attorneys?
I am trying to teach younger lawyers how to write in plain English rather than legalese. It may be difficult to articulate what plain English is, but it resembles Potter Stewart’s characterization of pornography — “I know it when I see it.” Perhaps the easiest way of characterizing plain English is in the negative: It is not typical legal writing.
