Land Development & Government Relations

Q & A
Why did you decide to focus on land development and government relations?

Before joining the Firm, I worked on several political campaigns, both local and national. It was fascinating work because most people who run for office genuinely seek to affect change in their respective communities. I believe the law provides me the same opportunities without certain limitations inherent to politics. Historically, our team has been involved in projects that have shaped South Florida and improved the lives of many. The clients we represent are revolutionizing transit, public housing, and many other industries in ways that bring sustainable improvements to our community while also making Miami a place where cutting-edge firms want to invest and creative people want to live.

My work is rewarding and the Firm's Land Development and Government Relations practice gives me an opportunity to work on innovative and tangible solutions to problems right at home.

Outside of your client work, what accomplishments are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the advocacy work I did on behalf of the disenfranchised. While in law school, I successfully represented a victim of domestic violence at trial against her abuser. It was a gratifying experience given what was at stake for my client. In addition, while in law school I was Articles Editor for the Florida Law Review, and as part of that role I read legal scholarship quite regularly. It was a proud moment to have my work, "I am Cait," But It's None of Your Business: The Problem of Invasive Transgender Policies and a Fourth Amendment Solution, included in the publication.
