GET TO KNOW MAMIE
Mamie is Of Counsel in the Real Estate Group, where she represents lenders, borrowers, investors, and developers in commercial real estate transactions. She handles the acquisition, financing, and development of multi-family, office, industrial and mixed-use properties. In addition to negotiating construction loans, mortgage and mezzanine financing on behalf of her clients, Mamie frequently advises clients on commercial leasing transactions and franchising matters, allowing her to serve as a multifaceted resource to owners, developers, and financial players operating in the real estate industry.
Q & A
What experience do you bring to transactions that distinguishes you from other real estate attorneys?
I worked for a number of years as a litigation attorney prior to expanding into my real estate practice. While my current practice is largely transactional in nature, my background in litigation has been very helpful in spotting issues that could potentially make a transaction subject to litigation down the line. This ability to assess a matter holistically, both from a transactional perspective and in terms of litigation-related pitfalls, is reassuring to clients navigating complex deals.
What involvements outside of work complement your real estate practice?
It’s exciting to work in real estate law in South Florida because I can supplement my counseling related to the area’s dynamic real estate development with involvement in a rapidly growing civic and arts scene that is expanding in parallel. For example, I am a member of the Board of Directors for the Miami City Ballet, a world-class artistic institution. As part of my involvement, I’ve had the opportunity to oversee diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and support Miami City Ballet’s community engagement programs, which provide access to the arts. A program that is particularly enriching is the Ballet Bus program, which provides 10-year long classical ballet training scholarships designed to support equity in dance. I highly value this ability to work on mutually reinforcing fronts to promote Miami’s development.
