Q & A
How does your competitive spirit influence your work on behalf of clients?
There is nothing more motivating to me than helping shape the outcome of a case. The higher the stakes, the greater the opportunity. Researching issues and case law allows me to know more than anyone else on a particular topic. I want to be the go-to authority on a legal concept or precedent because that information can be pivotal to the success of the case. Intensive research requires the kind of persistence, enthusiasm, and discipline that I learned as an athlete.
What past experience best describes your work ethic?
I follow my father’s professional credo to take pride in the sacred trust clients place in attorneys. From a young age, I have applied hard work and determination to all my ventures. For example, I became captain of my high school basketball team, despite long odds. After first being cut from the team, then being added as the last player on the roster, I never gave up. I worked incredibly hard to become a starting player in my junior year. Most importantly, to me and to my career, I gained my teammates' confidence to be elected captain two years in a row. My goal now is to be that reliable, respected, hard-working team player for my clients.
