Q & A
What is the best piece of advice that you have received?
As a young attorney I sometimes doubted my thought process and consequently didn’t speak up. Learning to trust my instincts has been the most invaluable advice I’ve received. In many cases my thinking was correct and led to productive outcomes in the deals I was involved with.
What made you want to enter the legal field?
My father was a solo practitioner back home in California. When I was growing up I spent many Saturdays with him in the office. I remember being mesmerized watching him interact with his clients, getting to know them on a personal level and from there helping them to successfully close deals. I was hooked and haven't looked back.
Outside of your client work, what accomplishments are you most proud of?
There is a current housing crisis in New York City and a lot of tenants aren't well versed in their legal rights. When I was interning in New York, I volunteered with the City's Housing Court, defending tenants against issues with their landlords. It was rewarding to know I had a direct hand in helping tenants avoid eviction and be able to keep their homes.
