Successful Arbitration Yields Recovery of Multimillion-Dollar Homebuilder Deposit

Lennar Corporation
Representation of Lennar Corporation in two-week arbitration proceeding where, despite the US Attorney's conclusion of insufficient evidence to prosecute, we proved that the seller of 1,219 acres of land in Palm Beach County had obtained the governmental development permits through bribery. The Arbitrator ruled that such illegal conduct warranted rescission of the contract, return of Lennar's $70 million deposit, and payment of an additional $6 million to cover all of the company’s legal and related expenses.
