Miami, Florida, January 11, 2006 Bilzin Sumberg announced today that Restructuring & Bankruptcy attorney Jay M. Sakalo has been elected Partner.

Jay M. Sakalo is a member of the firm's Restructuring & Bankruptcy Group and handles all facets of bankruptcy reorganizations and bankruptcy litigation, as well as commercial finance transactions. He has served as counsel to numerous debtors, creditors committees and borrowers in complex chapter 11 cases and the negotiation of complex financings. Recently, Mr. Sakalo served as special confirmation counsel to the debtors in the Heilig-Meyers bankruptcy cases in Richmond, Virginia and also served as counsel to the former equity owner in a Chapter 11 case involving one of the largest physician practice management companies in the country. In addition, he has recently represented the issuers in a $75,000,000 note issuance and the borrower in a purchase order financing facility related to the sale of aircraft parts. Mr. Sakalo has been listed in the South Florida Legal Guides "2004 Up & Comers" and in Florida Trends "2005 Up & Coming Elite." He is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he received both his B.S.B.A. and J.D.
