On June 18, 2009, Bilzin Sumberg Partner Carter N. McDowell participated in a teleconference presented by Law Seminars International that discussed Florida Growth Management CS SB 360. Governor Charlie Crist signed SB 360, which provides certain exemptions for dense urban areas in qualifying cities and counties,into law on June 1, 2009. Sitting among a panel that discussed the changes to Florida's approach to growth management and subsequent implications of the new law, Mr. McDowell specifically addressed: Implications of financial feasibility issues; Alternate state review process;Comprehensive plan issues; Procedural and general provisions; Affordable housing.
