Miami, Florida, December 21, 2005 Three Bilzin Sumberg partners have been named "2005 Most Effective Lawyers" by the Daily Business Review. Alan D. Axelrod, Albert E. Dotson Jr. and Steven D. Lear were each recognized at a commemorative honoree luncheon held December 6, 2005, at the Bankers Club, downtown Miami. "

We are proud of our attorneys and the recognition they received as Most Effective Lawyers. Our M&A team continues to set precedence with the large, sophisticated transactions they handle across a wide array of industries," stated John C. Sumberg, Managing Partner. "Additionally, the SouthCom case is a clear indication of how our practice groups such as Litigation and Land Use work together strategically."

Mr. Axelrod and Mr. Lear, both partners in the firm's Corporate & Securities Group, were both recognized for sophisticated M&A transactions. Mr. Axelrod handled the $3.8 billion sale of LNR Property to Cerberus Capital which took LNR Property from a New York Stock Exchange company to a privately held firm. Mr. Lear represented Lennar in multiple, complex acquisitions in Maryland and New Jersey which are anticipated to generate in excess of $2.3 billion in sales for Lennar.

Mr. Dotson, a partner in the Land Use & Government Relations Group was honored for his work on the SouthCom case; U.S. Government vs. GPA-Buffer, L.P. This was a novel lawsuit in which one branch of the federal government, the Army, was seeking to condemn a leasehold interest in property in which another agency of the federal government, the DEA, who already held a leasehold interest. The process proceeded on and off for five years and resulted in a settlement to allow SouthCom to lease the property through 2008 in the amount of $12.7 million.

The Daily Business Review is a South Florida publication dedicated to the trends and issues of Law, Real Estate and Finance. According to the publication, the "Most Effective Lawyers" were chosen based on their involvement and representation on specific client cases.
