Historic Courtroom Restoration Project To Preserve Dade County Courthouse

Press Release
August 15, 2006

Miami, Florida, August 15, 2006 Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP has been recognized as a Benefactor for their contribution to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court's Historic Courtroom Restoration Project.

The Dade County Courthouse, a well-known Miami landmark for nearly 80 years, is the site where justice was dispensed to Al Capone and Giuseppe Zangara (the would-be assassin of President Franklin D. Roosevelt), among others. It is also home to Courtroom 6-1, a grand courtroom often used for ceremonial gatherings. The restoration effort involves revealing and restoring the original painted plaster walls and wood fixtures.

"Our support of this worthy project is a commitment to preserving the rich heritage of Miami-Dade County," said John C. Sumberg, Managing Partner of Bilzin Sumberg. "As a part of this community, we felt it was vitally important to participate in the restoration effort," he added.
