Attorneys Assist With Securing a New Home for Coral Rock Academy

Press Release
July 7, 2008

Miami, Florida, July 7, 2008 Coral Rock Academy, Florida's first and only specialized school for emotionally fragile, high functioning children with neurobiological disorders, celebrated a permanent home with a ceremonial lease signing at the Dave and Mary Alper JCC on the Jay Morton-Levinthal Campus in Kendall. Coral Rock will move into their new location at the Dave and Mary Alper Jewish Community Center on August 12, 2008.

Presiding over the open house ceremony June 12th were Managing Partner at Hunton & Williams and John C. Sumberg, Managing Partner at Bilzin Sumberg. Together, with Board member Richard Schuchts, they were instrumental in securing Coral Rocks new location, working with the Symmetry Foundation Board members to find a new location in Miami-Dade County once the previous lease expired at Temple Israel. Symmetry Foundation is the non-profit organization founded by the Symmetry Board comprised of Marty Steinberg, Arnaldo Perez, Chris McAliley, Federico Intriago, John Sumberg, Richard Pollack, Tracy Nichols, Richard Schuchts and Rick Critchlow that created and developed Coral Rock and oversees the Academys operations and fundraising efforts.

This is a great facility for us to be able to utilize to meet the needs of our children. We are elated, Mr. Steinberg said. In addition to the new facility, the Symmetry Foundation Board will be granting five scholarships this year, as a result of the work of Chris McAliley and Federico Intriago, co-chairs of the Scholarship Committee.

Two years ago, when Marty initially approached me, children with emotional fragility, learning differences and average or above average intelligence had to travel out of state to receive the services provided by Coral Rock, said Mr. Sumberg, who also serves as vice chair of the Symmetry Foundation. Now that Coral Rock exists here in Miami, it was crucial that we find it a new home so that it can flourish. We are proud to be a part of this great step for this important school.
