Albert Dotson, Jr., Selected as Part of Florida Judicial Nominating Commission

Miami, Florida, March 3, 2009 Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP announced today that Albert E. Dotson, Jr., Partner in the firm's Land Use & Government Relations Group was selected to sit on Florida's Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). JNC is charged with choosing finalists for Presidential appointments to district judgeships, as well as U.S. attorneys and U.S. marshals.

Among the first orders of business for JNC will be finding potential replacements for retiring Judge Daniel T.K. Hurley, who was appointed to the federal bench in south Florida by former President Bill Clinton in 1994. The JNC will also likely be required to recommend a replacement for south Florida's top federal prosecutor, who may step down in order to head the law school at Florida International University.

Mr. Dotson is integrally involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations in Florida, including the United Way of Miami-Dade County, Alonzo Mourning Charities, the Orange Bowl Committee and the Alliance for Ethical Government. Mr. Dotson was also selected by the U.S. Secretary of Defense during the Clinton Administration to participate in the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference.
