Mellon United National Bank Keymorada Invitational Fly-Spin Tournament Looks To Hook Sponsors
Miami, Florida, March 19, 2009 Mitchell E. Widom and his brother, Glenn L. Widom, attorneys at the law firms of Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP and Silver Garvett & Henkel, LLP, respectively, are again serving as co-chairs of the annual Mellon United National Bank Keymorada Invitational Fly-Spin Tournament, which they co-founded in 2005. The tournament, benefiting the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), is scheduled to be held on May 5-8, 2009, at Hawks Cay Resort in the Florida Keys.
Since 2005, the tournament raises awareness and funds research and education initiatives to help find a cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Last year, more than 250 law firms from around the country sponsored and participated in this event, raising nearly $500,000 for the CCFA, and elevating their four-year fundraising total to over $1.4 million. Recently, the CCFA named the Keymorada Invitational Fly-Spin Tournament the "Most Unique Event in the Country" and Mitch and Glenn Widom "Fundraisers of the Year" for 2008.
Once again the tournament is looking for law firm participation through individual donations and sponsorship for the Law Firm Challenge. The Challenge encourages law firms to compete through the size of their donations to the CCFA. The Grand Champion together with all of the firms will be honored at an April 2, 2009 cocktail party at Mellon United's offices on Brickell Avenue. Grossman & Roth has won the Grand Champion honor for the last three years. As an added incentive for firms to participate, the Law Firm Challenge's title sponsor LexisNexis has offered challengers $500 worth of complementary services for any donation to the Challenge. All donations and proceeds go directly to benefit the CCFA for their ongoing efforts to find a cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
