Jeremy C. Sahn Awarded Put Something Back Pro Bono Service Award
Miami, FL Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP announced that Jeremy C. Sahn, Associate in the Litigation Group, was recently awarded the Put Something Back Pro Bono Service Award for his work with Lawyers for Children America (LFCA), his second award this year. Over the past year, Bilzin Sumberg lawyers have earned more than ten Put Something Back Pro Bono Service Awards for their continued work in the community.
Put Something Back is a joint pro bono project of the 11th Judicial Circuit and the Dade County Bar Association. The program was established in 1991 pursuant to the order of the Florida Supreme Court mandating pro bono programs for all circuits in Florida.
Lawyers for Children America partners lawyers with children in the juvenile justice and family law courts, most of whom are dependents of the state. The lawyers provide legal representation for the children to ensure that they receive the necessary services to encourage school attendance and performance, graduation and job placement. In 2008, Bilzin Sumberg received the John Edward Smith Child Advocacy Award for its commitment to providing pro bono legal services to Lawyers for Children America.
Earlier this year, Mr. Sahn earned the Put Something Back award for his participation in the German Ghetto Work Payment Program (GGWPP), a nationwide initiative in which attorneys assist Holocaust survivors who worked in German-controlled ghettos during World War II to apply for reparations from the German government.
