Mitchell E. Widom Receives 2011 Hope Award From Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America
Miami, FL. - Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod proudly announces that Litigation partner and Practice Group Leader, Mitchell E. Widom, is the recipient of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America's (CCFA) 2011 Hope Award. Presented at the CCFA's 2011 Evening of Hope Event, the award honors individuals who have been instrumental in helping bring awareness to the diseases and recognizes them for their years of service in raising funds to further the foundation's mission.
Mr. Widom's selection was based on his extensive involvement with the Florida chapter of the CCFA and his successful fundraising efforts for the organization. Currently, he serves as the Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Florida Chapter of the CCFA.
Having been personally impacted by Crohn's disease, Mr. Widom has been dedicated to help raise funds and awareness through the annual Sabadell United Keymorada Invitational Fly-Spin Tournament, co-founded by Mr. Widom and his brother, Glenn.
The Keymorada event has raised more than $2.6 million since its inception seven years ago. This past year, in addition to the success of the fishing tournament, Mr. Widom also raised more than $100,000 through the 2011 Keymorada raffle drawing, with proceeds benefitting the new University of Miami Crohn's & Colitis Center at the Miller School of Medicine, slated to break ground later this year. It will be the only one of its kind in the State, providing state-of-the-art treatment and a holistic approach to the treatment of the diseases.
In addition to his work with the CCFA, under Mr. Widom's leadership, Bilzin Sumberg's Litigation Group has become the firm's second largest practice.
