Miami, FL - Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP announced that Howard E. Nelson, partner in the firm's Land Use & Government Relations Practice Group, was elected to the South Florida Association of Environmental Professionals' Board of Directors.

Members of The South Florida Association of Environmental Professionals are engaged in environmental planning, engineering, science and law in South Florida. The organization's mission is to promote technical excellence, ethical practice, and community awareness - while providing a forum to network with other environmental professionals within South Florida, throughout the state, and across the nation.

With over 20 years of experience in environmental and land use law, Howard represents clients throughout the development process as well as in permit appeals and environmental enforcement matters. He represents clients in complex wetland matters and assists property owners in navigating the maze of local, state and federal wetland permitting. In addition to maintaining a successful practice, Howard is actively involved in the Environmental Sub-Committee of The Builders Association of South Florida (BASF), where he serves as Co-Chair, and is Chair of the Broward County Brownfields Redevelopment Task Force.

As a result of his work and community involvement in environmental and land use law, Howard is frequently recognized by nationally ranked publications, including Chambers USA and most recently, The Best Lawyers in America.
