Howard E. Nelson Selected to Leadership Florida's 31st Annual Class
Miami, FL - Bilzin Sumberg partner and Environmental practice group Chair, Howard E. Nelson, has been selected to participate in Leadership Florida's upcoming 31st Class, a prestigious eight-month training and development program to engage leaders in the critical issues facing Florida and motivate them toward finding solutions.
Nelson was one of 55 participants selected from among hundreds of applicants for their leadership abilities, passion and commitment to making Florida a better place to live and prosper. Beginning in September 2012, the Class will convene in five different Florida cities to examine major issues facing Floridians today related to education, economy, governance, growth, environment, health care, demographics, and arts.
As chair of Bilzin Sumberg's Environmental Practice, Nelson has over 20 years of experience in environmental and land use law and represents clients throughout the development process as well as in permit appeals and environmental enforcement matters. He also represents clients in complex wetland matters and assists property owners in navigating the maze of local, state and federal wetland permitting. In addition to maintaining a successful practice, Nelson serves as Co-Chair of the Environmental Sub-Committee of The Builders Association of South Florida (BASF), and formerly served as Chair of the Broward County Brownfields Redevelopment Task Force. As a result of his work in environmental law, Nelson is frequently recognized by nationally ranked publications, including Chambers USA and most recently, The Best Lawyers in America. Nelson was a member of the inaugural Leadership Fort Lauderdale Class.
