Javier Aviñó Named Partner of Bilzin Sumberg
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP is pleased to announce that Javier F. Aviñó has been elected as one of the firm’s newest Government Relations & Land Development Group partners, effective January 1, 2013.

Sumberg, managing partner of Bilzin Sumberg. “In his new role as partner, Javier's experience in land use, zoning and environmental law, coupled with his knowledge of South Florida's land development community, will provide significant additional value to our clients."
Javier represents clients in the land development approval process, including DERM permitting, planning and zoning applications, code enforcement, and comprehensive planning. He also has extensive experience representing restaurants, nightclubs and hotels in liquor licensing matters.
Javier's recent projects include assisting the Malaysian-based multi-national corporation, Genting Group, with its highly publicized plans to build an ultra luxury residential, hotel and retail complex on a 13.9-acre prime Miami waterfront site, and representing The Sydell Group, developer of the trendy Freehand Miami hostel (formerly the Indian Creek Hotel), in its acquisition and zoning related to renovating the historic Art Deco building.
Javier is a member of the American Bar Association, Cuban American Bar Association, and the Urban Land Institute. He is a board member of the Latin Builders Association and a legislative committee member of the Florida Atlantic Builders Association. He is a graduate of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Leadership Miami Program.
Javier received a J.D. from the University of Miami, School of Law, and a B.A. in Psychology from Boston College. A native Floridian, Javier is fluent in Spanish.
