Five Bilzin Sumberg Attorneys Win Daily Business Review's Top Dealmakers 2013 Award
Miami, FL - Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP is pleased to announce that five of its attorneys were named by the Daily Business Review (DBR) as "Top Dealmakers of the Year" in South Florida. The annual awards recognize those who made the biggest and most complex deals in 2012.
Managing partner John C. Sumberg, Real Estate partners Jon Chassen and Martin A. Schwartz, Government Relations & Land Development partner Carter N. McDowell, and Litigation Practice Group Leader Mitchell E. Widom won in the Hotels category for their representation of a joint venture in the $400 million acquisition and renovation of the Perry Hotel South Beach, formerly known as the Gansevoort hotel.
The team was also able to settle over 30 lawsuits that had been pending against the property when their client, a joint venture between the LeFrak Organization, Inc., Starwood Capital Group LLC and Invesco Ltd., acquired the property.
DBR editors selected winners from 90 nominations in 13 categories based on complexity and size of the deals, how instrumental the nominees were in making them happen, and how the outcome benefited the dealmaker's client. The DBR described the winners as "important players in the economy because of the positive impact they make on our local and regional economies."
