Melissa C. Pallett-Vasquez Named 2013 Rising Star By Daily Business Review
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP announced that the firm's youngest Partner, Melissa C. Pallett-Vasquez, was honored as a 2013 Rising Star by the Daily Business Review.
A panel of DBR judges selected 40 Florida lawyers under the age of 40 who have established themselves as top contributors to the practice of law and their communities, on track to becoming tomorrow's leaders. Profiles of the Rising Stars will appear in a DBR special section on September 18.
Ms. Pallett-Vasquez handles complex commercial litigation matters and international arbitrations with a focus on clients from Canada and South America. She was recently appointed to the Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee for The Florida Bar and is Vice-Chair of the Canada Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of International Law.
Ms. Pallett-Vasquez's recent work includes:
- Part of the Bilzin Sumberg team that represented the new owner of the Perry Hotel South Beach in settling and resolving outstanding major litigations in order to permit over $100 million in improvements to the luxury hotel.
- Represented a homebuilder in over 150 cases in state and federal courts throughout Florida and federal court in Colorado and Florida. The cases have included all aspects of the sub-prime mortgage situation that have impacted the homebuilding industry.
- Represented a Fortune 500 company in defending litigation claims throughout Florida in all aspects of Chinese drywall litigation including state, federal and multi-district litigation.
