Mindy A. Mora Named Fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers

MIAMI, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to announce that Real Estate and Business Finance & Restructuring Partner Mindy A. Mora was named a 2016 Fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers, a distinction reserved for the top commercial finance attorneys in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Mindy is one of just nine nominees being honored and recognized this year.
Nominees undergo a rigorous nomination process and are extended an invitation to join based on preeminence in the field of commercial law and repeated and substantial contributions to the promotion of learning and scholarship in commercial finance through (i) teaching, (ii) lecturing, (iii) published writings or (iv) continuing legal education. Fellows are selected by a Board of Regents from among recommendations received from the Fellows Nominating Committee.
The American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers is a professional association of distinguished lawyers dedicated to improving and enhancing the practice of commercial finance law and the ethics of the profession. The College’s mission is to bring together into an association those highly qualified members of the legal profession who, by reason of their character, skill and ability, will contribute to the goals, accomplishments and good fellowship of the College.
As a Partner at Miami-based law firm, Bilzin Sumberg, Mindy concentrates her practice on real estate finance, business finance, debt restructurings, creditors rights' and commercial finance. Mindy has represented numerous asset-based and mezzanine lenders and borrowers in complex commercial finance and real estate finance transactions, as well as sizeable high-visibility business entities, creditors committees, lenders and other parties in numerous Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructurings.
In addition to maintaining a robust practice, Mindy regularly volunteers her time and professional resources in an effort to improve Florida's commercial laws, and has been active in their development. Mindy chaired The Florida Bar Business Law Section 2016 study group on revisions to Florida's mortgage foreclosure laws, and The Florida Bar Task Force that sponsored the 2007 revisions of the Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors statute, as well as co-sponsored Florida's adoption of various revisions to the Uniform Commercial Code. In 2011-2012, Mindy served as Chair of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar, which represents the interests of over 5,000 business lawyers in the state of Florida. Mindy has served on the Executive Board of the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys since 1993. In 2014, Mindy was also named a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. She frequently lectures and publishes articles on insolvency, restructuring and commercial finance.
Mindy has received the highest ranking in Restructuring & Bankruptcy from esteemed legal publication Chambers USA, in which she has been consistently ranked top tier since 2004. She has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America, South Florida Legal Guide, Daily Business Review, Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel Edition, Florida Trends Legal Elite and Florida Super Lawyers.
Mindy will be inducted as a Fellow of the College on April 9, 2016.
