Javier F. Aviñó Featured in DBR's 2020 Florida Trailblazers
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is proud to congratulate Javier F. Aviñó, Land Development and Government Relations Practice Group Leader, on being featured in the 2020 edition of the Daily Business Review's (DBR) Florida Trailblazers list. The publication highlights professionals who serve as agents of change and have made significant marks on policy and technological advancements in their practice.
Javier is recognized for his work on the Miami Produce Center, a 1.36 million-square-foot complex with homes, offices, shopping, and dining. He obtained city approval of a Special Area Plan, wrote regulations that allowed greater residential density, and codified the concept of co-living. On the Miami Produce Center, Javier says it will "not only provide different housing types but also different affordability ranges. That’s something our community desperately needs."
Javier focuses his practice on land use, zoning, and environmental law. He assists clients in obtaining the necessary development approvals for major high-rise residential condominium and rental projects, commercial and institutional buildings, single family residential developments, affordable housing developments, and public/private projects. Javier has been recognized by legal publications Chambers USA and The Best Lawyers in America for his work in land use and zoning law.
The DBR held an open call for nominations and considered individuals from an array of different backgrounds, positions, and practice areas. A handful of individuals that demonstrated innovation and thought leadership were selected.
