Q & A
How does your background working in local government reinforce your legal practice?
As an urban planner with the City of Miami Beach, I experienced firsthand what local officials and boards look for in approving new developments. Local public officials are a critical group that can make or break a project, and understanding how to communicate and work with them is a critical skill that I bring to client matters. Knowing how to operate with officials can often lead to indispensable insights for owners and developers that are navigating approval processes.
How does your personal connection to Miami support your work as a land use attorney?
As a native Miamian, I’ve nurtured a strong connection to the city, which has fueled my passion for shaping the way it evolves. Over the years, I’ve worked with multiple local bodies and organizations on real estate and development issues, such as Miami-Dade County, the City of Miami Beach, and the University of Miami, all of which has made me deeply familiar with the local urban environment and the opportunities and challenges of developing in different neighborhoods.
