Howard Nelson participated in a panel discussion on Hot Topics and Emerging Issues in Waste Management at the 2020 Environmental Permitting Summer School. Panelists discussed the challenges they experience in their practice as they approach site closures and how they approach resolving these challenges, stormwater management in contaminated media, emerging contaminants (PFAS) and reopens, what are monetary and legal risks on emerging contaminants, statutory proposals being considered for 2020, the evolution of “background” determination, upcoming policy changes, and the latest from the utilities world.
