Albert E. Dotson, Jr. Receives Award at 2010 Scholastic Classroom & Library Group Book Summit
Miami, FL Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP announced that Albert E. Dotson, Jr., partner and practice group leader of the firm's Land Use & Government Relations Group, was presented with the "Scholastic Heroes" award by Scholastic Inc., at its annual Scholastic Classroom & Library Group Book Summit on February 8-9. Scholastic Chairman and President, Dick Robinson, and the head of Scholastic's Classroom and Library Group, Greg Worrell, presented the award to Mr. Dotson. The award, which is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to the promotion of literacy education, was given to Mr. Dotson for his leadership in and continued work with the 100 Black Men of America, Inc.
Mr. Dotson handles matters regarding local and federal government procurement contracts and compliance, and represents clients in securing land use, zoning, permitting and other government approvals. He also routinely negotiates economic development incentive programs.
In addition to maintaining a thriving legal practice, Mr. Dotson serves as the National Chairman of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. organization, and sits on the Boards of Directors of a number of local non-profit organizations including the Orange Bowl Committee, Overtown Youth Center and Alonzo Mourning Charities. He is also a Trustee Member of the United Way of Miami-Dade.
The Scholastic Classroom & Library Group Book Summit summons together administrators, literacy experts, authors and researchers from around the nation to discuss current issues in literacy education, and to raise awareness about the significance of books in reading achievement.
