Mitchell E. Widom Named Practice Group Leader of Bilzin Sumberg's Litigation Practice

Miami, FL Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP is pleased to announce that Mitchell E. Widom has been named Practice Group Leader of the firm's Litigation Group. A partner in the Group for over 13 years, Mr. Widom concentrates his practice on civil matters in areas ranging from class actions and construction to real property disputes and insurance coverage. He has represented major corporate defendants in prominent jury trials, and has been appointed over 25 times by Dade County judges to act as a Special Master for evidentiary hearings and discovery disputes.

Mr. Widom also handles litigation matters involving eminent domain, bankruptcy preference and fraudulent transfers, securities, professional malpractice and civil rights.

In addition to maintaining a thriving litigation practice at Bilzin Sumberg, Mr. Widom is actively involved in South Florida's local community. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Florida Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation America (CCFA). In 2009, he was honored as the recipient of the Leadership in Fundraising Award for his work with the Keymorada Invitational Fly Spin Tournament, an annual fishing tournament to benefit the CCFA, of which he is the co-founder and co-chair. This past year, the tournament raised more than $436,000, boosting its six-year fundraising total to $2.1 million. Additionally, Mr. Widom regularly provides pro bono legal services for Lawyers for Children of America (LFCA) and Temple Beth Am.
