Bilzin Sumberg Cares about the 2012 Miami Dade Special Olympics

Miami, FL. - Hundreds of athletes and volunteers participated in the 2012 Miami Dade Special Olympics, a day of fun and competition for those with intellectual disabilities. Joining them were volunteers from the law firm of Bilzin Sumberg, which has participated in the Miami Dade Special Olympics for more than a dozen years.

Partners, staff members and their families served as "huggers," supportive people who accompany a participant as he or she competes in the various track and field events. The volunteer work was part of the ongoing Bilzin Sumberg Cares initiative, an employee-based program designed to effect change in the surrounding community.

Alan D. Axelrod, Bilzin Sumberg Partner and Practice Group Leader of the Corporate & Securities Group, is an avid volunteer with the Special Olympics. It is a passionate role of his to annually lead the firm's volunteers.

"As someone who has been involved in this event for more than 20 years, I can assure you it is a day you will thoroughly enjoy and remember forever," said Mr. Axelrod in reference to his years of volunteering with the Special Olympics.
