Bilzin Sumberg Gives Back by Hosting United Way Week
MIAMI, FL – Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP hosted their annual United Way Week as part of their year-long campaign to give back to the community through United Way of Miami-Dade. The Firm holds a week-long celebration that includes networking events, fundraising activities and firm-wide contests that brings the Bilzin Sumberg team together and encourages all employees to participate in the charitable initiative.
A variety of contests and raffles occurred daily as part of United Way Week. Firm attorneys and staff were asked to donate to participate and individual pledges were made as contributions. As part of the program, UPS Americas Region President Romaine Seguin, a long-time supporter of United Way of Miami-Dade, was invited to speak to firm attorneys about how their contributions can make a difference in our local community. Additionally, representatives from United Way's Center for Financial Stability and Center for Excellence discussed these crucial programs, and awarded 31 of our employees with a red feather pin, a historic symbol of charitable giving, in recognition of their tireless support of the organization. As a result of a year-long effort to give back to the community through events such as United Way Week, Bilzin Sumberg has raised nearly $300,000 for United Way of Miami-Dade in 2014.
Bilzin Sumberg's United Way Week initiative is part of Bilzin Sumberg Cares, the firm's community involvement program which provides opportunities for attorneys, staff and their families to work together to make a positive impact in the community in which we live and work. Chaired by Corporate partner Marshall R. Pasternack, Bilzin Sumberg Cares underscores our commitment to shaping more than just the Miami skyline, by emphasizing the importance of community engagement within our corporate culture.
Now in its seventh year, Bilzin Sumberg Cares has partnered with organizations including Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, the Miami-Dade Special Olympics, Voices for Children Foundation, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, United Way of Miami-Dade and numerous other non-profit organizations. Our recent projects have included landscaping at Norwood Elementary school in Miami Gardens, painting the TACOLCY community center in Miami’s Liberty City, sponsoring a book bag drive at Southside Elementary school in support of United Way’s Early Literacy campaign and assisting track-and-field athletes during the Miami-Dade Special Olympics.
