Dotson, Jr. was honored as the recipient of the 2015 Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce's Salute to Miami's Leaders Award in the category of Legal/Law. The awards, presented annually to community leaders across six categories, honor those in Miami-Dade County who have "excelled as leaders in their respective business fields, served the Chamber with distinction and been integrally involved in the community."
A member of the firm's executive leadership, Al represents high-profile clients in government contracts and public-private partnership matters, including the Miami Dolphins, All Aboard Florida, Miami Dade College, G4S, ZIRX, CH2M, AnsaldoBreda and The University of Miami/Wexford.
In 2014, President Barack Obama appointed Al as a founding commissioner of the President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans. He also holds leadership positions in several civic and charitable organizations, including United Way of Miami-Dade, The Orange Bowl Committee, Miami Dade College Foundation, 100 Black Men of America and Alonzo Mourning Charities/Mourning Family Foundation.
Al's professional achievements have been recognized locally and nationally. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America and in Chambers USA, one of the oldest and most prestigious legal listings in the world. In 2013, he received the National Black MBA Association President & CEO Award for Community and Social Justice Leadership, as well as the Miami Herald's Legacy Award.
