Melissa Pallett-Vasquez Appointed Co-Chair of ABA Section of International Law Canada Committee

Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg announced today that Litigation Partner, Melissa Pallett-Vasquez, was appointed as Co-Chair of the Canada Committee of the American Bar Association Section of International Law for the 2015-2016 term. Melissa previously served as the Vice-Chair of the Canada Committee of the American Bar Association Section of International Law from 2013-2015.
As Co-Chair, Melissa will assist the association in its mission to serve as the preeminent U.S.-based international legal organization by advancing the professional excellence of their worldwide membership; bridging the U.S. and non-U.S. legal communities; helping their members serve the international needs of their clients; promoting substantive international expertise; and strengthening the just implementation of the rule of law.
Melissa handles complex commercial litigation matters and arbitrations with a focus on clients from Canada. She represents clients in a number of areas including real estate-related contracts, partnership and joint venture agreements, fraud and misrepresentation disputes and product defect claims. Melissa's significant ties in Canada and her fluency in French are particularly helpful in assisting her international clients with their legal needs in the South Florida business community.
Melissa was named a "40 Under 40" honoree by both the Daily Business Review and the South Florida Business Journal for her professional success and community involvement, which includes serving as President of the South Florida Chapter of the McGill University Alumni Association and providing pro bono legal representation to children who are victims of abuse through the non-profit organization Lawyers for Children America. Since 2010, Melissa has been recognized by Florida Super Lawyers as a "Florida Rising Star."
