Raquel Fernandez Newest Addition to Litigation Group
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to announce Raquel Fernandez has joined the Firm as a Partner in the Litigation Group. With more than two decades of experience, Raquel has substantial experience in complex commercial litigation both in state and federal courts.
Well-versed in all phases of pretrial, trial, and appeals, Raquel focuses her practice on litigation involving business torts, deceptive and unfair trade practices claims, breach of contract, products liability, antitrust, and class actions.
Raquel has successfully represented clients in a number of high-stakes cases. Among these include defense of a manufacturer in a products liability action involving $300 million in claims; representation of an insurer in securing a complete summary judgment victory in a matter involving $5+ million in fire damages; and defense of an insurer in a class action certification appeal resulting in the reversal of the class certification and dismissal of the complaint in its entirety.
Frequently involved in cross-border matters, Raquel speaks fluent Spanish enabling her to effectively communicate with Spanish speaking clients and witnesses. In addition, she has served as liaison counsel for U.S. based clients and counsel in South America.
Raquel earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude, and received her B.S. from Cornell University. Known as a top attorney in her field, she has been named as a Florida Super Lawyer since 2010.
