Miami, FL - Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to announce that the Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor, Carlos Giménez, and Board of County Commissioners proclaimed November 8th, 2018 as “Bilzin Sumberg Day.”

On the eve of the firm’s 20th anniversary celebration, a proclamation was presented to the firm by Miami-Dade Transit Director, Alice Bravo.  This honor recognizes the firm’s talented and passionate group of professionals as well as its deep commitment to the South Florida community.

Since Bilzin Sumberg’s inception in 1998, the firm’s growth has paralleled that of its South Florida home base.  The firm has expanded alongside its clients’ needs and stayed within the industries and practice areas fueling South Florida’s economy forward, such as real estate, land development, government relations, public-private-partnerships, tax and estate planning, as well as our sophisticated litigation practice.  Bilzin Sumberg also recognizes the importance of maintaining active involvement in the community through philanthropic efforts.

“There couldn’t be a better time than on our anniversary to be recognized by the very community we call home, and one we work diligently each day to improve to maintain South Florida’s flourishing path of progress,” said John Sumberg, Bilzin Sumberg Managing Partner, who will soon step into a new role as Chairman in 2019. “We are deeply humbled by this acknowledgement, and we thank Miami-Dade Mayor, Carlos A. Gimenez, Chairman Esteban Bovo Jr., and all members of the Board of County Commissioners, as well as the community for making this a reality.”

Under Sumberg’s leadership, Bilzin Sumberg has become a dominant leader in the South Florida market and beyond.  As a member of the firm’s executive committee, he will remain an integral part of the management team and will continue to collaborate on the firm’s initiatives and actively represent clients after the seamless transition to new leadership is complete.

“It’s both a privilege and honor to serve as Bilzin Sumberg’s next Managing Partner, and to have worked with John on a thoughtful, long-term vision that allows us to evolve in a way that meets our clients’ needs and expectations,” said Albert E. Dotson, Jr., Bilzin Sumberg Managing Partner-Elect.  “As our firm continues to play a crucial role in South Florida’s emergence as a global market, ‘Bilzin Sumberg Day’ is truly a testament to the hard work and dedication of the individuals at our firm.”

The Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners’ proclamation recognizes exemplary achievements made by individuals, organizations and businesses that symbolize the characteristics that make the South Florida region a thriving metropolis.
