Bilzin Sumberg Dedicates Day of Service to Family Resource Center of South Florida
MIAMI, FL – On July 23, in connection with its Bilzin Sumberg Cares community involvement program, Bilzin Sumberg partnered with United Way of Miami-Dade to support the Family Resource Center of South Florida in the enhancement and beautification of its headquarters and facility in Miami.
Nearly 100 Bilzin Sumberg attorneys, staff, and their families, along with their counterparts at United Way, gathered at the Center to learn about the organization’s mission to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect through the strengthening of families, and about the myriad educational, therapeutic, and communal programs they implement to achieve their mission. The volunteers then broke out into small groups to paint childcare rooms and restock them with toys and furniture over the course of half a day.
“With every Bilzin Sumberg Cares Day, we are reminded of the tremendous work to be done to support the most vulnerable members of our community,” remarked Lori Lustrin, a Partner in the Litigation Group and Co-Chair of the Bilzin Sumberg Cares program, “But with every volunteer event we also come away with a greater appreciation of how far a willingness to put in some time and effort goes in helping organizations like the Family Resource Center achieve their exemplary goals.”
Since 1978, the Family Resource Center of South Florida has been championing the rights of children to grow up in a healthy and safe environment. Founded by a group of concerned citizens, today the agency is a leader in child welfare services, providing a full continuum of services that help prevent and treat child abuse and neglect through the strengthening of families. In the past year, Family Resource Center of South Florida has provided services to more than 2,500 children, adolescents and adults.
