New Miami Breakfast Insights

Our New Miami Breakfast, Miami: The Next Entrepreneurial Frontier,”  was heavily attended by nearly 200 of Miami’s business community members. Our co-moderators, Bilzin Sumberg Partners Javier Aviño and Melissa Pallett-Vasquez, touched on Miami’s initiatives to attract both entrepreneurs and investors, before our esteemed panelists dove in.

Matt Haggman, Miami Program Director of The Knight Foundation, discussed some of the challenges and struggles facing Miami on its way to becoming a global hub for entrepreneurship, and explained the Knight Foundation’s plan to make Miami more of a place where ideas are built.

Following Hagmman, Laura Maydón, Managing Director of Endeavor Miami, gave insight into the history of Endeavor Global and the motivations behind the decision to launch Endeavor Miami. Manny Medina, Founder and Managing Partner of Medina Capital and Terremark Worldwide, discussed how the future of technology in Latin America will implicate Miami as the “gateway” of the Americas. Many major technology corporations will likely set up their Latin American headquarters here.

Following Medina were presentations from William Silverman, Director of The Launch Pad at the University of Miami, and entrepreneurs Joanna Schwartz, CEO of EarlyShares and Andre do Valle, President of Handprint, whose companies are leaving a significant footprint in Miami. Each presentation explored the local landscape for entrepreneurship.
