Press Release
September 18, 2017
MIAMI, FL – Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP, through its community initiative program Bilzin Sumberg Cares, recently partnered with Lotus House for its Back-to-School Drive efforts. The Firm successfully raised over $5,000 in addition to providing several boxes of school supplies.
Lotus House provides free housing, sanctuary and support for homeless women and their children. Lotus House houses women and children on a daily basis, where they also provide access to medical and mental health care, parenting education, counseling and parent/child therapy, life skills and a host of other enrichment activities to aid these women to transition to permanent homes off the street.
“Lotus House endeavors daily to provide a safe haven for women and children. It is an honor to help them further their mission." said John C. Sumberg, the Firm's Managing Partner and a member of the Lotus House Board of Directors. "We foster a spirit of community within our Bilzin Sumberg family, which results in positive change in our neighborhoods."
The Firm raised the funds and school supplies by gamifying its efforts. Various office floors competed with the end goal of out-raising one another in both monetary contributions and school supplies. Each of the Firm’s floors respectively raised over $1,000 per floor coupled with several boxes of school supply essentials.
This is not the first time the Firm has encouraged collective participation through the gamification of worthy causes. Last month, the Firm was ranked within the Top 100 Healthiest Employers in America for its creative promotion of healthier lifestyles for its employees through wellness related challenges.
“We strive every day to be agents of change both within and outside our Firm,” said John C. Sumberg.
Bilzin Sumberg is a long-time partner of Lotus House. John C. Sumberg, the Firm's Managing Partner has been a member of the organization's Advisory Board for over a decade and the Firm frequently participates in its charitable initiatives.
