Environmental Attorneys Receive Top Honors For Work On Florida Wetland Mitigation Bill
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is proud to congratulate environmental attorneys Howard E. Nelson and Alexandra Barshel on being featured among Daily Business Review's (DBR) Most Effective Lawyers for their exceptional achievements for clients in the past year.
Howard and Alexandra were instrumental in the passing of modifications to existing restrictions on wetland mitigation projects. The Florida Wetlands Mitigation Bill was approved this year and went into effect July 1.
The bill opens the door for economic driver projects in the region to move forward, streamlines the development process by cutting through what were considerable delays, fund local government-level conservation projects, and increase the overall supply of wetlands that can be restored or enhanced through credit purchasing.
Howard has more than 25 years of experience in environmental law, land development, zoning, and regional planning. He also has extensive experience in representing clients in complex wetland matters, including issues related to protected and sensitive wetlands and preservation efforts. Howard represents clients throughout all phases of the development process from site location through permitting and construction, as well as in permit appeals and defense of environmental enforcement matters.
Now in its 15th year, DBR Most Effective Lawyers features attorneys who demonstrate consistently obtaining favorable results for clients. Other criteria include obstacles overcome, impact on public policy and business interests, and the professional track record of the nominees.
