STEFAN
Stefan Chin brings over 20 years of combined experience in both the construction industry and the legal profession, offering deep insight into the challenges real estate owners and developers face during complex developments. A Florida Registered Architect certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar, Stefan’s practice spans construction litigation, arbitration, mediation, and dispute review board proceedings. He handles claims involving design and construction defects, contracts, liens, delays, impacts, bonds, and insurance, across both domestic and international projects. He also advises on the negotiation and administration of construction contracts for public and private developments. Stefan draws on his prior experience as former general counsel to one of Florida and the Southeast’s largest general contractors to help clients navigate the long-term legal and business risks of building in Florida.
Q & A
Why should a client hire you instead of another lawyer in your specialty?
My combination of Board Certification in Construction Law by a State Bar, active architectural licensure, and certification by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards is uncommon among construction attorneys in Florida and nationally. These credentials indicate a depth of technical experience and understanding – from the perspectives of both legal counsel and a construction industry professional – that can effectively address the most complex and high-stakes construction matters for clients.
What makes your construction law practice unique?
My experience is multifaceted. In addition to representing real estate owners and developers in negotiating construction agreements and resolving construction disputes, I have significant prior experience in representing general contractors. Separately, my time as in-house counsel has reinforced the importance of viewing each construction matter within the broader context of my clients’ business objectives. As a result, I can more effectively analyze a construction matter and counsel our owner and developer clients on the optimal path towards a desired outcome.
