Q & A
How has your experience working in local politics helped you in your legal practice?
Prior to starting my legal career, I had the opportunity to work on numerous political campaigns as well as lobbying efforts for a number of projects, and in doing so, I was able to see the impact that local politics has on everything we do. Local elected officials are a critical group that can make or break a project, and understanding how to communicate and work with them is something I learned early on. Knowing how to operate with elected officials can often lead to strategic insights that may otherwise be missed by someone who does not have that experience.
Which of your clients’ projects are you most excited to see come to life in Miami?
Having grown up in Miami and watched it take its place on the world stage, I can attest to the urgent need for robust mass transit systems in Miami-Dade County as the region rapidly develops. Our critical counsel to the developers and infrastructure companies building such systems, constitutes our contribution in helping Miami successfully manage its growth. Being able to lend a hand in building those systems by being a part of Bilzin Sumberg’s leading public-private partnerships and government contracting practices is immensely rewarding.
