He also has experience with class action, arbitration, and special litigation committee matters. Q & A
How does your background outside of law strengthen your practice?
Prior to becoming an attorney, I worked in a number of business planning, financial analysis, and contract negotiation roles at Fortune 500 companies and also was a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at a small solar company in turnaround, which experience has helped inform my practice as a commercial litigator. In rendering strategic dispute resolution counsel to clients, it’s important to go beyond legal minutiae and litigation strategies to understand how the particular issues and developments of a given case affect the client’s broader business objectives. Clients appreciate this holistic perspective, and they are inclined to trust you more when your recommendations reflect a comprehensive understanding of their business.
What makes Bilzin Sumberg’s Litigation Practice stand out?
I have found that Bilzin Sumberg strongly encourages its attorneys to become deeply familiar with the industries within which clients operate. In the case of litigation, this translates into going beyond a transactional mindset of ‘winning’ a discrete case to being able to also counsel clients on potential legal exposure elsewhere in order to avoid costly litigation in the future. Our ability to add value beyond handling a specific litigation matter rests on solidly understanding the client’s business and operating environment.
