Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to announce five of the Firm's attorneys have been recognized by the Daily Business Review as "Most Effective Lawyers" in the Real Estate and International categories, respectively.
This year more than 100 nominations were submitted, and attorneys were asked to showcase positive results obtained for their clients illustrating obstacles overcome and its impact on public policy and business interests.
In the Real Estate category, Bilzin Sumberg attorneys Anthony De Yurre, Martin A. Schwartz, and Salomé Bascuñan were recognized for their representation of Paramount Miami Worldcenter. Over a period of eight months the team worked relentlessly to secure a series of complex financing structures resulting in a $170 million construction loan and two mezzanine loans totaling $150 million, all successfully obtained before the land purchase was finalized. The future $650 million luxury condominium is slated to be part of the larger $2 billion Miami Worldcenter which will revamp the section of downtown Miami where the demolished Miami Arena once stood.
In the International category, Bilzin Sumberg partners Anthony De Yurre, Jay M. Sakalo, Martin A. Schwartz, and Jose Sariego were selected for their role as Florida counsel to Groupo Mexico Transportes in its $2.1 billion acquisition of Florida East Coast Railway. The team further assisted the client in obtaining two separate financing deals a $1.5 billion bridge loan and a $260 million working capital facility loan. The 565-mile freight rail system is the only rail provider for PortMiami, Port Everglades and the Port of Palm Beach.
