The success of the Legal Services Young Professionals Committee is due in large part to the leadership of its Chair Jennifer Fine. Born and raised in Miami, Jennifer attended the University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy, and the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She is now a land use and zoning attorney in the Land Development & Government Relations Group at Bilzin Sumberg. Jennifer describes her involvement as follows:

How long have you been involved with Legal Services?

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to intern with Legal Services before starting law school in 2012. Through that experience, I got to know the clients and understand the impact that Legal Services has on the community. That led me to get involved with the Campaign Committee and Young Professionals Committee when I graduated from law school and returned to Miami.

Why does supporting Legal Services matter to you?

Legal Services understands that providing free civil legal services for the local low-income communities is essential to having a successful society. As lawyers, we have an obligation to protect and defend the rights of the most vulnerable members of our community, and the lawyers at Legal Services fulfill that obligation on a daily basis.

Why do you think it is important for young professionals like you to become involved?

In addition to being an easy and rewarding way to give back, being involved with the young professionals committee is a great way to network and meet other members of the legal and banking communities.

What advice would you give to those that want to ‘do good’ in the community but don’t know where to go?

Join us for a worthy cause at our next Young Professionals Happy Hour! In addition to drink deals, the price of entry helps replenish the Legal Services Needy Client Fund, which provides clients of Legal Services with grocery store gift cards. Your support will have an immediate impact by ensuring that Legal Services' clients and their families do not go hungry. Click Here to Register.

The Young Professionals Committee is a subcommittee of the Legal Services Campaign Committee. Members include dedicated young professionals in the South Florida community (lawyers and non-lawyers alike) who support Legal Services and its mission to provide equal justice for vulnerable families and individuals in our community. The Committee organizes events geared towards raising funds to support Legal Services. Its signature event is the Legal Eagle Closing Argument Competition.
