Summer Associates Participate in Habitat For Humanity as Part of Firm Initiative

Press Release
July 9, 2007

Miami, Florida, July 9, 2007 The law firm of Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP is launching a new initiative, Bilzin Sumberg Cares, an employee-based, comprehensive community involvement program. The program will be formally launched this Wednesday, July 11th during a breakfast meeting at the firm, for which representatives will be present from Hands On Miami.

As part of the rollout of the new initiative, the firm's $50,000 sponsorship of Habitat for Humanity is going to underwrite the cost of a new house for a deserving family through the organization.

On July 13th, a team of 13 summer associates from the firm will descend on the Scott Carver community in Liberty City to help build the house. Starting at 7:30 a.m., they will spend the entire morning wielding hammers, power tools and paint brushes, to help construct a new home for the Sanon family.

"For years, the firm has been deeply committed to Habitat for Humanity, and were honored to be able to give this great gift to such a wonderful family," stated Marshall R. Pasternack, a Partner in the firm's Corporate & Securities Group, who chairs the firm's Diversity Committee and is spearheading the Bilzin SumbergCares initiative.

"Its also a great way to launch our Bilzin Sumberg Cares program. The firm has long taken an active interest in community involvement, and the new initiative is the next step for us in that area," he added.

"Having the summer associates work together on the Habitat project is one way in which the firm introduces our summer associates to one of our many worthwhile causes and to our overall commitment to corporate social responsibility," noted Jessica L. Buchsbaum, the firm's Director of Recruiting, who will also be joining the summer associates on the worksite.

The group will be part of a total of 88 people, mostly summer associates at various law firm's from around South Florida. The day's activities are sponsored by the South Florida Association of Law Placement (SFALP), which is the local chapter of the National Association of Law Placement (NALP).
