Successful negotiation of two settlements of over $20 million in a unique leasehold condemnation by one federal agency against another. The United States Southern Command is one of the five major unified commands in the world, overseeing all military operations in South America and the Caribbean Basin. The headquarters were in a leased facility owned by our client, the developer and landlord. The United States military initiated a leasehold condemnation action to void the lease between our client and the Drug Enforcement Administration. A number of constitutional and force protection issues complicated this case.
