Successful Negotiation of Settlement Agreement Regarding Pro Football Stadium
Miami Dolphins, Ltd. and South Florida Stadium, LLC
Representation of Miami Dolphins, Ltd. and South Florida Stadium, LLC, in connection with the successful negotiation of a settlement agreement with Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Gardens setting forth the allocation of government authority over development rights for the Stadium properties. The settlement agreement stemmed from a lawsuit between the City of Miami Gardens and Miami-Dade County. The settlement agreement, which adds joint control provisions over land use and zoning applications, is a unique entitlement process that addressed the City and County's policy priorities, community and county-wide concerns, and the commercial viability of the Stadium as a regional asset. The negotiated settlement requires a change to the City of Miami Gardens charter and therefore must be approved by the City of Miami Gardens voters in a public referendum.
