Defense of Hotel Developer in Dispute with Contractor

Defense of Tiffany Hotel, LP, the developer of the Gale Hotel, a 96-room hotel located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in a dispute with the contractor. The contractor alleged that the developer failed to pay the final balance in breach of the construction agreement and, as a result, filed suit seeking payment and to enforce its construction lien. The developer countersued for breach of contract due to contractor delays which resulted in the failure to achieve timely completion of the project.

Analyzed cleanup strategies in order to resolve soil and contamination issues on homebuilder client’s property in Broward County, Florida. Negotiation with the Broward County Environmental Protection Division to obtain a restrictive covenant to allow for residential development on the property.
Served as Special Counsel to a major city in Florida in connection with the negotiation of a ground lease for a $1 billion marina and mixed-use development project.
