Bilzin Sumberg Represents Simon Property Group ® in the $512 Million Acquisition of Swire Properties’ Brickell City Centre in Miami, Florida
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to have represented Simon Property Group®, the largest owner of shopping centers in the United States and a global leader in retail real estate, in its $512 million acquisition of Swire Properties’ remaining interest in the retail and parking components of Brickell City Centre in Miami.
Simon previously held a 25% non-managing interest in the retail portion of the project. This acquisition of the remaining 75% stake from Swire marks a significant expansion of Simon’s South Florida footprint and signals the company’s growing commitment to urban, mixed-use assets in high-growth markets.
Brickell City Centre spans approximately five million square feet across three city blocks, and is widely recognized for its architectural innovation and integrated urban design. Anchored by a 500,000-square-foot open-air retail center, the development is covered by the iconic Climate Ribbon™, a sustainable architectural canopy that provides shade, enhances airflow, and collects rainwater. The retail component—home to over 90 global and luxury retailers—is currently at 100% occupancy, reflecting its prominence in Miami’s thriving Brickell neighborhood.
